Employment Information

Job Description

1. Budgeting

  • Together with the Finance & Accounting Manager, prepares the annual sales budgets for each boutique
  • Twice yearly, prepares the buying budgets for each boutique with the Boutique Managers and agree these with the MD
  • Develops the Buying Plan with the Boutique Managers and MD
  • Supervises the actual buying process working closely with the Boutique Managers in Paris, ensuring that this respects the merchandising strategy agreed with the MD in terms of both product selection and amount bought

2. Commercial Management/Sales

  • Develops plans to target achievement of sales in different product segments
  • Sets monthly sales targets, creates and implements suitable incentive schemes to motivate the boutique managers and the staff
  • Monitors closely the sell through results and develops action plan to achieve targets
  • Prepares meaningful monthly sales reports for the MD, highlighting problematic areas, offers recommendations and ideas on improvements and follow up on all action plans in a timely manner
  • Ensures sales targets are achieved
  • Maintains a high level of service in the store while respecting all the CAO commercial policies with respect to exchange, discounts, repairs, and other after-sales services
  • Conducts regular store visits meeting with sales staff and feeling the pulse of the business
  • Conducts periodic meetings with all Boutique Managers to communicate and share on the progress of the business
  • Initiates stock efficiency and stock accuracy
  • Ensures that appropriate merchandise is bought and kept at the appropriate stock level at all times
  • Conducts regular analysis of sales and inventory with each Boutique Manager to make suggestions on reorders or movement of stock
  • Observes and discuss with the Boutique managers any necessity to take action on shop maintenance
  • Works closely with the Communications and Visual Presentations to ensure stores are kept up to date on all marketing activities
  • Maintains close contacts with top tier customers
  • Ensures that the attitude of sales staff in the boutiques is always friendly, welcoming and helpful; ensures sales staff have in-depth knowledge of all Hermes product ranges; ensures sales staff are trained in the necessary skills to enable them to handle customers effectively and to maximize the sales opportunities

3. Human Resources Management

  • Builds and develops a strong team through good recruitment practices, proper training and performance management process
  • Assess the performance of Boutique Managers and sales staff regularly and reviews them with the MD as and when necessary
  • Recruits new managers keeping the MD informed at all times and seeking his/her approval for all staff recruitment; ensures new staff are properly trained and inducted
  • Provides smooth integration of new store managers by giving support, training, orientation and guidance to ensure a successful fit
  • Plans training schedule and organizes training programs (Sales, Product, EMH, etc.) to ensure sales staff are properly trained
  • Conducts yearly formal HR Performance Review of all Boutique managers as part of the salary review process
  • Provides feedback to Boutique Managers on a regular basis to enable them to know what improvements are needed

Job Requirement

  • Ideally the candidate should be Tertiary educated and have 5-8 years sales management experience preferably in a retail environment
  • Experience in a management role with a strong track record of delivering results
  • Strong understanding of sales in a luxury retail environment
  • Cross functional working skills (across multiple levels of management and ability to work with diverse cultures)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong people management skills including being a good communicator and coach and the ability to manage relationships at different levels
  • Fluent in English.
  • Hands on computer knowledge of MS Office
