Job Description

Production output

  • Obtain and interpret daily production schedules and ensure that production plan is adhered to and ensure that productions plans are communicated to all relevant employees
  • Plan labor allocation in such a way as to ensure that production targets are met and that no extra production costs are incurred
  • Production output is measured against production targets and corrective action is pro-actively taken upon deviations from production plan / schedules
  • Ensure that the all the quality requirements as per customer specification on different products are met and maintained
  • Completes / updates daily production and quality related reports
  • Identifies maintenance related issues and communicate all problems or potential problems to the Production Manager.

Minimize production costs

  • Minimize production costs through the reduction of overtime worked by staff
  • Minimize production costs through the reduction of re-works / re-washes
  • Ensure that all production and quality targets are met hourly, daily, weekly and monthly
  • Pro-actively identify equipment / machinery related problems and ensure that corrective action is taken to prevent stoppages or breakdown

Supervising staff

  • Staff performance and conduct is monitored, and disciplinary steps are taken as and when required against employees who misconduct themselves or who are under performing
  • Staff is planned, allocated and applied in such a manner as to minimize the necessity of casual labor, fixed term contract labor and overtime
  • Training needs of staff are identified, and high potential candidates are identified, and the potential development of these candidates is discussed with the relevant Production Manager.
  • Communication with staff is done regularly to discuss targets, deviations, performance, customer requirements, customer complaints, etc.

Occupational Health and Safety

  • Weekly inspections are conducted in conjunction with the H & S representatives and Occupational health and safety hazards are identified, reported and corrected where possible
  • Staff is made aware of all the risks associated with tasks and duties in the plant or in their work area
  • Unsafe acts that is committed by employees are identified and addressed immediately
  • Staff is trained and assessed on relevant standard operating procedures / safe work procedures on equipment and on the processes

Administration

  • All daily, weekly and monthly production and quality related reports are completed accurately and submitted
  • All administrative documents regarding staff leave, sick leave, family responsibility leave, and study leave is accurately completed and submitted timeously
  • All employees’ time and attendance records are checked on a daily / weekly basis, corrections are done where required and action is taken where required (e.g. AWOL, late coming, etc.)
  • Return to work interviews are conducted with staff that has been absent
  • All other administrative tasks related to the position is done correctly and timeously

Job Requirement

  • 2-4 year Degree/Diploma holder of any related course or equivalent professional training.
  • 2 years - experience in a customer / service related industry or production environment.
  • 2 years - experience in a supervisory position in a customer or service related industry of production environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the laundry / production process.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the supply and demand chain.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the production process and maintenance processes required in a production environment.
  • Ability to identify, develop, implement and ensure compliance to standard operating procedures relating to the production and quality related processes.
  • Ability to ensure that all quality control practices are implemented and adhered to.
  • Ability to supervise the production processes and staff in the plant.
  • Ability to supervise the performance of the staff and discipline staff when required.
  • Ability to mentor and coach team leaders and production workers.
  • Ability to interpret and adhere to production planning schedules, monitoring and tracking of compliance against the schedules and the ability to pro-actively take corrective actions on deviations from the production schedule.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, clearly and accurately in English.
